These Are A Few of My Favourite Things

“Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens...” ok, that’s not what I was going to really say but those sound so good.

My sister recently made a blog post called Things I Love in 400 Words.  After getting me all sentimental and weepy it got me thinking about making a similar post.  There are so many things I love that I fear I would bore everyone to tears with the long list (never mind trying to keep it under 400 words)  so I’m going to keep it down to just “a few”.

Let’s start with a few of the fan fiction stories that have owned my arse in the last little while:

Robert Pattinson is twenty-five years old and a solid A-list international star. He is on the last leg of a European promotional tour for his latest film, when he meets a sexy much older woman who has been hired to serve as his language interpreter. What will develop during their travels throughout Spain, Italy, England, France and America? Will this older woman teach Rob about love and lust or will he have something to teach her? Lots of ripe, juicy, delicious lemons and possibly other fruit.

As usual this wouldn’t be a post from me if I didn’t bring some Robp0rn.  Here are a few of my favourite things about Rob:

I can start with his beautiful blue eyes. Followed by his mouth (especially that bottom lip) and that delicious scruff of his.  These are a few of my favourite things about Rob.

How could I possibly not include my all time favourite thing about Rob?! HIS NECK!!!! I’ll spare you all the details about why I love his neck (that would have to be a post all on its own).

And last but not least, I have to include a few “real life” favourite things:

• When my second-born says “I love you, Mommy”.
• When my first-born wants to discuss books we’ve been reading or wanting to read.
• That first kiss when DH comes home from work.
• The tradition of putting a puzzle together with my sister and first-born on Boxing Day.
• Being together with friends and family at Christmas.
• Sitting down with a good book and a cup of coffee.

Yup! These are most definitely a few of my favourite things!

I’m a ‘Breaking Dawn’ Survivor

So November 18th has come and gone and I’ve survived.  Death by Robward is always a possibility and thankfully, I’m still amongst the living. [W4R:  *Mike Newton Voice* “You’re aalliiiveee!  Alliiiveeee!” LOL]

In case you’re not sure what happened on November 18th [W4R: and are living under a rock…], The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 (now that’s a mouthful) was released.

I’m not willing to admit how many times I’ve seen this movie already, but rest assured that there are many more viewings to come in my future.

Did I enjoy it, you ask. OH HELL YEAH!!!!!

We all owe Bill Condon a big debt of gratitude for doing such a phenomenal job on this movie.  This might very well be the best movie in the series.  Now don’t get me wrong, the first movie Twilight will always have a special place in my heart (as will Twilight Edward – that bouffant, that peacoat, that Volvo… GAH!!!!!!)  It just seems that there was a much bigger budget for this one and um…. we get to see Edward thrusting half-naked.

I like to joke that I’ve been in Fan Fiction Hell for the last two and a half years but there’s a reason for it.  Some of the stories are so well written and they’re exciting to read.  It really is difficult to pull myself away from it.  Here are some of my favourite stories still in progress in no particular order.  I am providing the link to each story and the brief synopsis provided by the author.  I am not writing a review for each story.  Clearly, I love these stories or they wouldn’t be on this list.  I thought I’d share them with you without putting my spin on them. What The Hell Was I Waiting For?!

The first time I heard of the Black Dagger Brotherhood books by J. R. Ward was from my friend Caroline.  I vaguely recall some of her tweets as she read from book-to-book.  Unfortunately, I didn’t pay enough attention and never got around to reading them myself until recently.  Besides, I was deeply entrenched in Fan Fiction hell at the time.  😉

Black Dagger Brotherhood Book Series

At the moment, the series consists of 9 books plus an insider’s guide.  Click here for a synopsis of each book.

The books are classified as Paranormal Romance.  I like to think of them as Twilight for grown-ups.  Don’t get me wrong, other than the main characters being vampires and that each book is essentially a love story, that’s where the Twilight similarities end.  Plenty of love, sex, and violence here.  There’s something very sexy about a big, tall, good-looking, long-haired, leather-wearing vampire with mixed martial arts skills.

After hearing about these books from so many people on Twitter, I decided to give the first book a chance.  I wasn’t convinced that I’d like them as I don’t usually go the romance route with books.  Since it was about vampires, I figured I’d give it a go as paranormal stuff is my usual reading preference.  Needless to say, it’s been three and a half weeks since I started the first book and I’m now half-way through the seventh book.  I ask myself, “What the hell was I waiting for to read these books?”  I LOVE THEM!!!!

Oh, That Boy’s Hair!!!!

Nothing creates as big of a stir as speculation on what Rob has done to his hair.  That Boy’s hair has the power to bring down Twitter. I’m convinced of this!  LOL

Over the last few years, Rob has had various hair styles/lengths.  I’d like to do a brief retrospect of a few of my favourite ones.

For most of us h00rs, this was the first real good look at Rob as Edward in Twilight.  I can still remember the sound of people/girls gasping at the sight of him as he made the first big entrance. *sigh*  And what an entrance it was!!!  I think we’ve all grown to love TwiEddie’s hair, even though the term “bouffant” has been thrown around on occasion.

Now we all know that no post about Rob’s hair would be complete without mention of the “SexHair”.  With a show of hands, how many of you wish they had been the one to make his hair end up looking like THAT? (see pics below)   Mmmhmmm… That’s what I thought.  I know many people who mourn the loss of the SexHair.  In fact, some of you have never recovered from the loss.
