ISHO SummaryA stroke of beauty

a palette of pain

a rendering of passion

…creating a work of art

In a life driven by passion, famed artist Maxfield Caswell lives in a world of brilliant color and drama, pushing his art and affairs to his emotional edge. He’s stunning, charismatic and celebrated in the art world, but are the trappings of fame also destroying him?

Ava Jacobs is diligently working toward an art career of her own when she’s swept off her feet by the self-destructive artist — creating a world of sensuality and all-consuming love. But will the pain of the past and turmoil of the present make their future uncertain? From desire and mystery to a muse that almost slips away, The Work of Art Collection will be the inspiration that has you breathless for the unveiling of their final masterpiece.

This beautifully written love story is finally being released as a collection (complete box set) for the first time and includes new material and extras.

On the way to my car, he stops me. “Ava, I need to say something.”

“Yes?”

He pauses on the walkway, looks down and kicks a pebble toward the lawn.

“I know that as much I’d like to…I can’t ask you not to see Jonathan…”

What? I glance up at him with my head tipped to the side.

He’s twisting his hands together as I wait for him to continue. He finally looks me square in the eyes.

“…But, will you do me a favor? Don’t fall in love with him.”

I arch my brow. “Did you really just ask me that?” Should I tell him there’s little to no chance of my falling in love with Jonathan now?

He gets a devilish look in his eyes as he holds up his hands in surrender.

“I know, I know…I just don’t want you to get involved with him on the rebound.”

I put my hands on my hips and arch my brow. “Max, to be on the rebound you have to have been in a relationship to rebound from.”

He seems to ignore my logic. “Besides, Ava, you could still be really attracted to me and not know it.”

“Really? I don’t think my attraction to you is in question.”

“Yeah, what if you’re secretly falling in love with me?”

I playfully push him on the shoulder. “You wish!” I tease.

“There’s only one way to know for sure. Don’t you think you should know before you go out with Jonathan again?”

“One way to know for sure?”

“Yes. Kiss me. I promise I won’t touch you—look, hands free!” He tucks his hands into his back pockets.

My mouth falls open as I press my thighs together. Just the idea of being kissed again by Max makes me instantly hot and bothered.

“Just one little kiss,” he says in a low voice.

I can’t believe he’s playing this game with me. But the fire in his eyes and the sweet smile on his face are more than I can bear. I take a step toward him. Two can play this game.

“So, if I feel nothing, we’ll agree to be friends—that’s it—no complications. And I can friggin’ marry Jonathan if I so choose.”

He makes a sour face, but nods anyway.

I bite my lip as I look into his eyes. One kiss, one kiss…I close my eyes as I edge closer until I can feel the heat shimmering from his skin.

“Oh, Ava,” he whispers, a deep longing in his voice.

His breath on my cheek undoes me, and when our lips meet, they meld together as if they’d just kissed a moment earlier. We kiss languidly,

sensuously, our tongues meeting in an erotic dance. He gently bites my bottom lip before I press my lips even harder against his. An overwhelming current suddenly

surges through me, practically knocking me over.

Oh my God! I’m on fire. I run one of my hands along his shoulder and behind his neck, pulling him closer, while winding my other hand into his hair and tugging it passionately.

Our bodies are pressed together so tightly I feel as if I’m one with him.

He moans my name over and over as the kiss intensifies. I’m lost in his sweet mouth, his lips turning me into a traitor to logic and reason.

When I finally pull away to gasp for air, he grins widely, and the bright-eyed expression on his face is victorious. He gambled big and won.

Like there was ever a question—he owns me. He probably has all along; it’s just taken me all this time to figure it out.

He studies me with a spark in his eyes, and he takes a sharp breath.

He takes his hands out of his pockets as if to grab me and never let me go. My heart’s so full I can’t help but shine with a smile.

I remember we’re taking things slow, so without a word, I hurry to my car before he can say something to draw me back into his arms. But even as I flee the charged atmosphere and speed down PCH, I can feel his joy follow me all the way home.

“Elle, have you ever considered that the whole bunch of men looking to hook-up on Tinder could be bad apples?”

“You’re so funny!”

“I’m not joking,” I say.

“Seriously Paul, I’ve decided to throw myself back into the game.”

“But Tinder’s not really a game, Elle . . . it’s more like the mosh pit. What if you get head butted again?”

“I’ve realized the mistake I made. This time I’m going to spell it out to the dude before we get to the sexing.”

“Spell it out, huh?”

“Yeah, no weird stuff like latex or furry suits. No demeaning talk or behavior. No bondage. No threesomes.”

“Or foursomes?” I ask.

“Ewww, no!” she says.

“Are you trying to make me feel bad?”

“What? No, why?”

“I told you about my foursome.”

“Oh, I’m sorry. I forgot about that. That was when you were a man-whore.”

“Yes, thanks, although I prefer the term ‘sex fiend’.”

“Well . . . that’s still what you told me.”

“I did. So see, I’m the very guy you wouldn’t want to sleep with.”

“Ummm.”

“Yet, you pretty much asked me to screw you when we met. Do you see how complicated this is?”

“Can I ask you something, Paul?”

“Sure, why not? You know so much about me already.”

“Did you do men too back during your sex fiend days?”

I almost drop the phone. “Sex with dudes? No! Why would you ask that?”

“So your orgy was really just you and a bunch of women. Did you have a harem or something?”

“I could have.”

She huffs into the phone. “Oh really? A harem? What if you’re making all this stuff up? Why should I believe you and all your big talk?”

“If you don’t believe me, I don’t care. It doesn’t change anything.”

“What if you made up all those sexy stories . . . like that you were addicted to sex. What if you’re really more like your accountant brother?”

I feel the vein pop out on my forehead. Why is she screwing

with me?

“I know what this is about,” I whisper in a dark voice.

“Oh yeah? What’s that?”

“You’re provoking me, trying to get me to come over there and fuck you and break my oath. Well, it’s not going to happen.”

“Good!”

“Yup, good.”

“Because you know what, mister? You don’t fit into my profile anyway.”

“Oh that’s rich. You must have one hell of a profile.”

“Well look at you. You’re searching for a little complacent wifey who will roast your chicken and birth you a bevy of babies.”

“Roast my chicken? What’s that a metaphor for?”

“It’s not a metaphor, it’s dinner.”

I roll my eyes. “You’re pretty weird, you know.”

“And you don’t want to fuck anymore and nothing’s weirder than that . . . so who’s calling the kettle black?”

“Who says I don’t want to fuck? I never said that. I want it.”

“Really?”

“Sure.” I want it bad. So bad it hurts, but I don’t tell her that.

“So it’s that you just don’t want to fuck me?”

“Oh, I want to fuck you. Right now I want to throw you on the bed and ride you so hard you won’t be able to walk the next day.”

There’s a long silent pause. Maybe that was too much.

“Ms. Jacoby, are you still there?”

“I’m here, Paul Junior. I’m just distracted thinking about you throwing me on the bed.”

“And mounting you?”

“Yes.”

I hear a soft moan.

“And fucking you hard?”

“God, yes.”

“So you really want that, do you?”

“You’re cruel. Are you going to make me beg for it?”

“Maybe.”

“Please . . . Paul, are you touching yourself? Because I am.”

I pause.

“Maybe.”

“Mmm.”

ISHO Summary

An unexpected plane ticket leads our heroine to a meeting that will change her life.

What happens when what’s most precious to you slips out of your grasp? How fiercely will you fight for the one you love?

Join Max and Ava for the dramatic and passionate conclusion to the Work of Art trilogy

isho-my-opinion2This is the final book in the Work of Art Trilogy and once again Ruth Clampett has written a story that has been a pure pleasure to read.

Ava and Max are forced to confront the obstacles and troubles they come across and in the process learn how to deal with these situations head on and not run away from them. They are both very passionate people, about art, their friendships and each other.  At the end of the day they have to learn to trust in each other and then they are able to overcome what comes their way.

This was the perfect conclusion to this series.  I LOVED THE EPILOGUE!!!! This book and this series get five delicious lattes.  I cannot wait to read more from Ruth Clampett.

ISHO Excerpt

I wonder if my silence and twirling mind spook Max, so I stroke
his hand reassuringly. Because I’m beyond exhausted when we step in
the house, he seems unsure of what to say or do. He decides to feed
me, and he heats up the leftover pasta from his dinner and pours me a
glass of Pinot Noir. We sit at the kitchen island, and he watches me eat
as if each bite is his own. I lick my lips and watch him watch me, too
exhausted to make much conversation.

After dinner, I shower and crawl into bed, still damp and disoriented.
He pulls me into his arms and rubs my back gently. I’m so in
love and happy to be back home with him, and I tell him that in quiet
mumbles. I have a vague memory of my knee hitched up against his
erection, but sleep takes me hard.

The next morning dawns in a gray quiet light, and I lift my head
and see a thick blanket of fog draped across the Malibu horizon. I settle
back into the bed and watch Max as his chest rises and falls with each
breath.

I observe him for a long while and become overwhelmed with the
desire to see more of him. I slide the sheet off, excruciatingly slowly, to
reveal his incredible body. His thighs…God, I love his strong thighs
and the way they’re slightly parted, leading my view to his beautiful ass.
My insides curl with desire as I skim my hand down his back.
I’m glad to be naked and warm, my arousal spreading through me.
I want him so much that it takes everything not to shake him awake
and seduce him.

I quietly lift myself up to my knees so I can study him from another
angle. I gently push his waves of hair off his forehead.

Inexplicably, tears fill my eyes and I still for a moment. I love this
man, and when we’re joined together, all I know in life is the depth of
my passion. I kiss his neck, his taste and the Max smell of musk, paint,
and salt air arousing me further. He stirs out of the deepest sleep, and
as I kiss his jaw, his eyes slowly open.

“I thought I was dreaming and didn’t want to wake up. What are
you doing to me, Angel?” he says in his morning voice, as he rolls over
to his back.

“Good morning, handsome. Sorry to wake you, but I woke up and
you’re naked and all…”

“It’s okay,” he says, smiling lazily as he reaches for me. “I take it you
missed me.”

“You have no idea,” I say, as I straddle him, resting lightly on his
thighs.

There’s something so intoxicating about how he makes me feel as
he looks at me. His eyes are wide now and alert to my movements. He
skims his fingers up my sides and then across my breasts, his thumbs
circling my nipples.

“Max, I want you so much,” I whisper, as I gently run my fingers up
and down his length.

His face colors and his jaw flexes as he watches me touch him. He’s
completely hard now, and my fingers tighten as I stroke him.
His hands slide back to my hips and he pulls me closer so I can lift
up and sink down on him.

I love it when he’s all the way inside me. His eyes close and his head
tips back before he lazily begins to rock his hips.

We move slowly in the morning light with the sound and rhythm
of our breath and the waves crashing just beyond.

I gaze at him as the intensity builds. His eyes are stormy as his body
tenses.

“Max,” I whisper.

He takes a sharp breath as he pulls me to him. “I’ve got you, Ava.”
His words spark a fuse, and I tremble with exquisite pleasure as
he watches me. Every hard thrust is the very definition of masculine
energy as he brings me to climax and soon after joins me with a quiet
roar.

We both settle and try to catch our breath. I ease off of him and curl
into his side.

“Round one,” he says, as he nuzzles and kisses me.

“Yeah, wait until we have our coffee. I’m already imagining round
two, but I’ll definitely need breakfast first.” I settle back into the sheets
and we lie quietly, listening to the waves break along the shore.

My limbs are loose and happy and my head as clear as the early
morning beach. Max’s eyes are deep in concentration.

“I can hear your wheels turning. What are you thinking about?” I
trace circles lightly with my fingertips across his chest.

“Your birthday.” He grins and pulls me closer.

“Oh, it’s next Saturday, isn’t it? Can we do something special?” I’m
like a little girl, complete with party hat and balloon.

“It’s already planned.”

I grin widely. “Really? What are we going to do?”

“I’m not telling. It’s a surprise. But when you come to spend the
night Friday, bring your swimsuit and something nice to wear.”

“Oh, I love birthday surprises!”

He kisses me on the forehead. “I’m glad, because this one’s special.”

ISHO SummaryFamed artist, Maxfield Caswell is missing.

Three of his major paintings have been savagely defaced and his house left in ruins. As his friends search for him, does his muse, Ava, hold the key?
Before the hope of love is lost, secrets will be told, spirits will be broken, and a price will be paid.
From the cave dwellings of New Mexico to the shores of Malibu, Max and Ava’s journey tests them to their limits. As they render passion and pain in broad strokes, will their all-consuming love rise from the debris?
isho-my-opinion2I received this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.  Having loved book one in the series,  The Inspiration – Work of Art 1, I was definitely looking forward to book 2 and to finding out what happened to Max.
I need to say that after reading this and having to write this review, I really wish that I was much more eloquent in writing reviews [I’m actually not eloquent at all].  Ruth Clampett is such an amazing storyteller that anything I write will not do justice to her work.
She has written a story that is incredibly real and has me rooting for the main characters, Ava and Max.  As with the first book, there are twists and turns that I didn’t expect.
This book picks up where the first book left off. They finally admit what they mean to each other but nothing is ever easy.
We get more information about Max and what goes on in his head as he tries to work through his issues with relationships.  We also find that Ava is a very strong person.  She acknowledges her feelings but isn’t about to let herself be used or undermined.
I couldn’t put this book down. It was over before I knew it. As with book one, this ends in a cliffhanger.  I need more! I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
I’ve given this book five yummy caffe lattes!

ISHO Summary

In a life driven by passion, famed artist Maxfield Caswell lives in a world of brilliant color and drama, pushing his art and affairs to his emotional edge. He’s stunning, charismatic and celebrated in the art world, but are the trappings of fame also destroying him?

For years intelligent and bright-eyed Ava Jacobs has worked diligently toward a career in the art world. Ava is swept off her feet when she meets the passionate artist. She soon realizes, however, that he’s on a destructive path—one she doesn’t intend to join him on.

In the decadent world of patrons, art groupies, and predators, feisty and beautiful Ava knocks Max off his pedestal. A stunned Max sees something special in Ava and offers her an opportunity she can’t refuse. As their lives and passions collide, will he realize that she alone has the power to heal him? Can their hearts come together to create their own work of art?

isho-my-opinion2I received an ARC of Work of Art The Inspiration in exchange for my honest opinion.

This is an extremely well written book.  Ruth Clampett is an amazing story teller.  She has created a story that has you vested in these characters, you truly feel for them and their situations.

Max is a young amazing artist with a bright future ahead of him if he can get his head out of his ass.  Ava becomes his staunch supporter. They are thrown together on a project that can mean great things for both of their careers.  As they work on this project they develop a great friendship that could lead to more.

It’s difficult for me to say more without spoiling the storyline.  Ruth Clampett has built this story up so well and has created a sloooooow burn that leaves you holding your breath in anticipation of what will happen next.  This book definitely ends on a cliffhanger so be warned.  The next book can’t come soon enough!!!

I gave this book five delicious, smooth cappuccinos that you want to sit and savour.
