What Makes Me Smile

Yesterday, as I sipped my Tim Horton’s coffee I found myself smiling. It lead me to think about all the things that make me smile. They aren’t always big things, in fact they are mostly little everyday things.

Since I’ve already mentioned the coffee, I’ll just elaborate a little bit.  Every time I take that first sip of a Tim Horton’s coffee I smile.  Sometimes, I even sigh.  Throw in a chocolate dip doughnut and that smile is wider and brighter.

My kids don’t always make me crazy. How can I not smile when second-born says “I love you mommy”.  Yeah, I know every mom smiles at that but I always smile when she says it out of the blue.  Then there are the few and far between times when they have a “sisterly” moment. When they’re not bickering or yelling at each other.  I have to smile at these moments because it makes me feel hopeful that someday, hopefully not in the too-distant future, they will be able to get along and be great friends as well as sisters.

Obviously, like anyone else, my guilty pleasures make me smile.  Two of my guiltiest pleasures are Nutella and reading.  I love getting home from work and just before starting dinner having a little bit of heaven (pronounced Nu-tel-la) on a slice of bread.  Mmmmm always make me smile when I take that first bite.

Then there’s reading.  What can I say about it other than, if I could sit and read all day, I’d gladly do it.  I often forgo sleep so I can read.  Getting a new book, be it a hard copy or an e-copy, makes me so very happy.

Another thing guaranteed to make me smile is the sight of my nephew (6yo) and niece (4yo) dancing.  They dance with so much intensity and enjoyment. How can I not smile?!  Whereas my nephew goes all out when you ask him to dance, my niece prefers not to be watched.  If she catches you watching the dancing ceases immediately, only to commence again when she “thinks” you’re not watching.

I always have to smile when I tell DH that I’m in the mood for something specific for dinner and before I can even tell him what it is, he guesses.  He’s always been able to do this. I don’t know how. I guess he just knows me really well.

I know it’s a bit childish but I can’t help but smile when my friend Cristina snorts when she laughs.  We’ve discovered that although we may not look it, we really are 12-year-old boys deep down inside.  We giggle, laugh AND snort (well she does) at the most inappropriate things.  Very much like Peter Griffin.  To know us is to love us…REALLY!!!

One thing that makes me smile until my face hurts is….ready for it?… ROB!!!!!

When he smiles, I smile

What I’m Looking Forward to in 2012

So 2012 is upon us, and moving very quickly too.  January has almost come and gone but there’s so much more to come this year.  So many things that I’m looking forward to.

Rob's movies in 2012

MOVIES

There are so many movies I’m looking forward to this year.  Of course, there are the Rob movies I just can’t wait for:  Bel Ami, Breaking Dawn – Part 2 and Cosmopolis.  I’m anxious to see all three of his movies but Cosmopolis is the one that means the most to me 🙂  [Note from W4R:  Sweet Jesus, this man shall kill me in 2012! Yes, I’m predicting the future… meccaleccahighmeccahineyho LOL]

I’m also looking forward to Hunger Games.  The book was phenomenal and I’m excited to see what they’ve done with the movie.  How about The Avengers?!  I’m a sucker for a good superhero movie, but ALL those superheroes in one movie…  HOT DAMN!!!!!

My Anticipated Books for 2012

BOOKS

I’m sure there are many books to be released in 2012 that I will really enjoy, but the book that I’m most excited about is JR Ward’s Lover Reborn.  I’m bouncing in my seat in anticipation of the latest book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series.

I’m also looking forward to Cassandra Clare’s books City of Lost Souls and Clockwork Princess.  I’m not 100% sure that  Clockwork Princess will be released this year but I’m crossing my fingers.  [Note from W4R:  There’s MORE?!  I’m still on the second book! Geez, I can’t keep up!  LOL  *looks down & grabs a pen and… *delete, delete* opens MS Word & begins to make a list of MORE books-to-read LOL*]

Presently I’m reading and enjoying the Lords of the Underworld series by Gena Showalter.  Hopefully I’ll be all caught up when The Darkest Seduction is released.

Another book I’m dying to get my hands on is the sequel to Gabriel’s Inferno by Sylvain Reynard.  I’m not certain that it will be released this year but a girl can hope 🙂

& MORE

London

2012 is going to be the year that I will finally make a trip to London, England.  [Note from W4R: Jeal-ous! LOL I wanna go.. please to be putting me in to your suitcase, k? Thanks…]  Of course, I won’t believe it until I’ve actually purchased my ticket.  Note to Cor and Meg:  I’m coming for you!!!!!  Can’t wait!!!!!

My girls, Jen & Deb

Most importantly, in 2012 I’m looking forward to more good times with family and friends.  I made a lot of new friends in 2011 and I look forward to spending more time with those friends and making new ones!  😀

These Are A Few of My Favourite Things

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens...” ok, that’s not what I was going to really say but those sound so good.

My sister recently made a blog post called Things I Love in 400 Words.  After getting me all sentimental and weepy it got me thinking about making a similar post.  There are so many things I love that I fear I would bore everyone to tears with the long list (never mind trying to keep it under 400 words)  so I’m going to keep it down to just “a few”.

Let’s start with a few of the fan fiction stories that have owned my arse in the last little while:

Open to Interpretation by elvis4scilla

Robert Pattinson is twenty-five years old and a solid A-list international star. He is on the last leg of a European promotional tour for his latest film, when he meets a sexy much older woman who has been hired to serve as his language interpreter. What will develop during their travels throughout Spain, Italy, England, France and America? Will this older woman teach Rob about love and lust or will he have something to teach her? Lots of ripe, juicy, delicious lemons and possibly other fruit.

Note: I don’t usually read RP fics (for my own sanity, I think) but DAMN!!! This one is so good. [W4R:  Yes, I love it too!]

Footprints in the Snow by cosmogirl7481

“An hour from now, when the snow falls again, it will be like we weren’t even there. But we will remember.” A story of unrequited love, and how the things we keep silent can hurt us and the ones we hold closest. E/B Rated M for themes of an adult nature.

Note:  You know you just can’t go wrong with any story written by Cosmogirl7481

Masen Days by purelyamuse

3rd Place Winner in the Boys on Boards contest! Now an EXPANDED multi-chap! Bella meets Masen at the local skate park. He’s a quiet, mysterious loner. She wants to help him, love him even. Will he let her? Or will he skate away like he always does? AH

Note:  I love this Edward. I just want to hug him.

Let’s move on to a few of my fave fan made videos:

Why We Love Vishous by Calanthaa

What?!  You thought they were all going to be about Rob?  Had to sneak some Black Dagger Brotherhood‘s Vishous in there 🙂

As usual this wouldn’t be a post from me if I didn’t bring some Robp0rn.  Here are a few of my favourite things about Rob:

Rome Rob edit by Socalmom2four

I can start with his beautiful blue eyes. Followed by his mouth (especially that bottom lip) and that delicious scruff of his.  These are a few of my favourite things about Rob.

BUT WAIT!…..

Rob at the Sex Drive premier Oct. 2008

How could I possibly not include my all time favourite thing about Rob?! HIS NECK!!!! I’ll spare you all the details about why I love his neck (that would have to be a post all on its own).

And last but not least, I have to include a few “real life” favourite things:

  • When my second-born says “I love you, Mommy”.
  • When my first-born wants to discuss books we’ve been reading or wanting to read.
  • That first kiss when DH comes home from work.
  • The tradition of putting a puzzle together with my sister and first-born on Boxing Day.
  • Being together with friends and family at Christmas.
  • Sitting down with a good book and a cup of coffee.

Yup! These are most definitely a few of my favourite things!

*Unfortunately Writing4Roses who usually is kind enough to look over my ramblings to make sure I’m dotting all my Is and crossing all my Ts has not looked this over. So any errors in spelling or grammar are completely my own.  [UPDATED!  — > **Writing4Roses has approved this message! LOL]
