The Book Barista: Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren

The Book Barista

I don’t usually like to mention that a book used to be Fan Fiction because of the negativity that some people automatically feel for it without giving it a chance.  But, in this instance, it seems to be mentioned casually and no one seems to mind.

When I heard The Office was being published I was giddy.  It is one of my top five FanFic stories. [With publication of Beautiful Bastard, four of my top five FanFics have been published.  I’ve got my fingers crossed on the last one.]

So, this is what’s on my Kobo today:

Beautiful Bastard

An ambitious intern. A perfectionist executive. And a whole lot of name calling. Discover the story that garnered more than two million reads online.

Whip-smart, hardworking, and on her way to an MBA, Chloe Mills has only one problem: her boss, Bennett Ryan. He’s exacting, blunt, inconsiderate—and completely irresistible. A Beautiful Bastard.

Bennett has returned to Chicago from France to take a vital role in his family’s massive media business. He never expected that the assistant who’d been helping him from abroad was the gorgeous, innocently provocative—completely infuriating—creature he now has to see every day. Despite the rumors, he’s never been one for a workplace hookup. But Chloe’s so tempting he’s willing to bend the rules—or outright smash them—if it means he can have her. All over the office.

As their appetites for one another increase to a breaking point, Bennett and Chloe must decide exactly what they’re willing to lose in order to win each other. Originally only available online as The Office by tby789—and garnering over two million reads on fan fiction sites—Beautiful Bastard has been extensively updated for re-release.

It has been some time since I read The Office but other than the names being changed, it’s still HOT HOT HOT!!!  If you like sexy times in your books, you’ve come to the right place.

Of course, Bennett Ryan is sexy as hell.  And the name Beautiful Bastard most definitely applies to him.

I am now 51% through the book and loving it.  One of the things I truly am enjoying with the book is the alternating points of view.  I love reading a story from both points of view!!!

I know I’ll finish it tonight and then I’ll be jonesing for part two (Beautiful Stranger) which is scheduled for publication some time this year.

My friend Jen was lucky enough to be able to do an interview with the authors of Beautiful Bastard for HenryCavill.org [if you like Henry Cavill you definitely need to go check out this site.]

Here are a few of my favourite excerpts from the interview:

A couple of years ago, a friend of mine who knew I was looking for something fun and erotic to read, recommended a fan fiction called, ‘The Office’. It captivated me from the first chapter. I’d stay up half the night desperate to find out how the romance of the two main characters would play out. The exciting news is that story is now out in print as the Beautiful Bastard.

I like this mainly because I can take credit for being the friend that introduced Jen to the Beautiful Bastard! 🙂

@Stefter What was the deciding factor that made you choose to publish your awesome story? (It’s among my all time favorites.)

We signed with our agent for our YA books, so there was a lot of back and forth on whether we wanted to do this and how.The short answer is that it became clear that the story would get published one way or another. We wanted to make sure we were able to do it the way that felt right to us: silly, smutty, fun.

I was ecstatic that my question was used.  I’m glad to see that these ladies are having fun with this.

If you’d like to read the rest of the interview please check it out here.

Oh…just for the record, Henry Cavill would make a great Bennett Ryan. Just sayin’!!!!

What are you reading today?
