Return of the Bad Boy

ISHO Summary

He’s a mess…

Asher Knight has three constants in his life: music, beautiful women, and a bottle of Jack. He lives for the next gig, the next city, and dreams only of a life spent in front of an arena full of screaming fans. But Asher’s nomad ways come to a sudden stop when he learns he’s the father of a three-year-old from a past relationship and suddenly this rock star bad boy is forced to put down roots.

Only she can clean up

Gloria Shields is no one’s fool. Sure, the sexual chemistry between her and Asher has always been intense, but she’d never risk giving her heart to a man who has a perfect record for breaking them. Except the man desperate to make things right with his newfound son is nothing like the rock god she’s guarded her heart against for years. And it isn’t long before she starts to wonder if life with this bad boy might be the best thing that’s ever happened to her.

From the beginning of this series we’ve been teased by Asher and Gloria.  We knew there was something there but Jessica Lemmon made us wonder and wait until now to find out exactly what’s going on with them

Asher was the typical bad boy rock star until he finds out he’s a father and then he realizes that his relationship with his son is important at the same time he realizes he wants Gloria too.

Gloria is a strong and successful woman who is so used to fending for herself that she really doesn’t think that a relationship and love is in her future.  They’ve had encounters in the past but things did not end well. Lucky for Gloria, Asher isn’t about to give up on her.  He recognizes that they’re good together (not just in bed) even if she doesn’t.

It was also really nice to see characters from the other books and to see where they were at.

I really enjoyed Asher and how he convinces Gloria to give them a real shot. It was exactly what I hoped it would be.  Asher did not disappoint and of course neither did Jessica Lemmon.  I gave Return of the Bad Boy four hot and steamy cups of java.

ISHO SummaryTis the Season to Be Naughty

Connor McClain knows what he wants. And after four harrowing years in Afghanistan, that’s a quiet life in the lakeside town of Evergreen Cove. But coming home has land mines of its own-the most dangerous of them being long-legged bombshell Faith Garrett. Now getting her into his arms this holiday is going to require more than mistletoe . . .

With a cheating ex behind her, all Faith wants is a relaxing holiday free from man drama. And even though every moment with gorgeous Connor is a sweet temptation, Faith is determined not to give in. But Jack Frost has other plans, and soon Faith and Connor are snowbound in a winter wonderland with only the sparks flying between them to keep them warm. As one hot kiss leads to another, they’ll have to decide if they’re ready to give each other the best gift of all-love.

isho-my-opinion2Those of you who know me know that I always wish that I was more eloquent when writing reviews.  This is one of those books (thanks to Netgalley for the ARC) that I read and enjoyed so much that I can’t help but feel that my words aren’t enough to convey how much I loved it.

So, let me just say this:

Connor –  I liked him a lot in the previous book in this series. I absolutely ADORE him in this one.  I do believe he is one of my favourite book boyfriends. He’s a sexy, big and strong landscaper who can flirt like no one else!  He’s been through a hurtful past relationship and he’s endured Afghanistan but even so, he’s so caring and not closed off.  Could there be anyone else a girl would rather be stranded in a cabin with during a raging blizzard?  I’m going to say “HELL NO!”. He can be my hero any day! I’m “ALL IN” on this.

Faith – I just want to hug her!  She’s been cheated on and now is adamant about being independent.  She doesn’t want to need or want a hero but she finds Connor.  All he asks is for her to be “all in”.  She keeps reminding herself to be “all in” and flirts back at him like a champ. Connor is what she needs to make her realize that love is a good thing. Also, she wins the prize for finding impromptu Christmas tree decorations on the fly. On a final note, I’m sure she and I could be besties – her love of devil dogs and cupcakes is a strong indication of this.

Cast of characters – I loved getting to see the characters from the previous books.  Charlie and Evan, Sofie and Donovan and even Gloria and Asher (lots of foreshadowing for the next book!). I love them all!!!

To put it simply:  I LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS BOOK!  That is all!!!

A Bad Boy For Christmas gets five hot, steamy, delicious cups of coffee from me – fresh ground not instant with some devil dogs on the side!

“I don’t mind kissing you, either, Cupcake.  But I have to tell you, you think it’s something we shouldn’t do, I respect that.”  He slapped the cushion on the couch.  “I promise not to make you get within six inches of this mouth for the rest of the night.”

For Donovan Pate, the lake town of Evergreen Cove is a minefield of tough memories—including the day he had to let go of Sofie Martin. Years later, he still can’t forget the taste of her lips and the feel of her killer curves. He knows he’s too damaged, that he should stay away for her own good. But what the head says and the heart wants are two very different things…

Seven years ago, Donovan broke Sofie’s heart. Now her career depends on playing nice in order to pull off the charity fundraiser of the decade. She vows to keep things professional…yet working by his side every day doesn’t make it easy to fight temptation, and it isn’t long before she finds herself falling for this bad boy all over again. But loving Donovan means helping him face his past–so they can fight for a future together.

isho-my-opinion2A few months back I read the first book in the series, Bringing Home the Bad Boy (may I add that I loved it?!), and I did something that I usually don’t do.  I read the first chapter of book two. So as soon as I saw that ARCs were available for Rescuing the Bad Boy I was begging for it.  That’s right! I ain’t too proud to beg.

Donovan “Donny” is hot and broody.  I quickly found out why he’s so broody and why he appeared to be such an ass to Sofie all those years ago.  So, I did cut him some slack.  Luckily for him, Sofie is willing to go beyond what happened in the past and just enjoy the time they have now.

During his temporary stay in Evergreen Cove, Donovan reconnects with old friends and befriends a beautiful dog.  You gotta love a man that’s a softie for an injured animal.  It was nice to see some of the characters from the previous book.

I loved Sofie. She’s no longer the young inexperienced girl she was before Donovan left her.  She’s a beautiful, smart and successful business woman.  When she and Donny are together the sparks fly. It’s fortunate for Donovan that she’s able to see past the wall he’s built around himself and willing to see around it to the heart of Donovan Pate.

I loved this book and happily gave it five hot, steamy and delicious cups of java.  I cannot wait for the next book in the series.
