ISHO SummaryIn the Nine Circles Club, there’s a fine line between pleasure and pain, sin and salvation, heaven and hell. And it takes one bold pair of lovers to cross it…

He’s master of the game.
Zac Rutherford is one of the most powerful and sought-after men in New York’s private club scene. Masterful and demanding, he attracts beautiful women willing to surrender to his every whim, every desire, and every command. But Zac is in love with one woman, and one woman only. She is his true passion-and sole obsession. A glorious angel in the flesh…who refuses to be touched by any man.

She doesn’t play by the rules.
Eva King owes her life to Zac. Seven years ago, he rescued her from darkness. Still, in spite of her attraction to Zac, she refuses to allow any man to touch her body, let alone her heart. But when a dangerous enemy from Eva’s past reappears, Zac is the only one who can save her-if she’s willing to bare her soul, shed her inhibitions, and surrender control…to him.

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press for the ARC, which was given via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

I read and enjoyed the two previous books in this series and was really looking forward to Zac and Eva’s story.  There were lots of hints in the previous books about there being more to their relationship than what was on the surface.

I really liked Gabriel and Alex but I think I liked Zac even more.  He’s always impeccably dressed.  He’s English.  Oh and did I mention he’s a sexy Dom?!

For seven years Zac has looked after and watched over Eva. He’s waited very patiently and now does not want to wait any longer.  He knows she’s endured some horrifying stuff and wants her to trust in him and to basically hand herself over to him.

Eva has always known that Zac looks out for her but was always happy with the “Don’t ask. Don’t tell.” policy in their group.  Ultimately she protects herself with her attitude and even in the way she dresses.  When Zac starts to demand more of her, it’s not easy for her to trust.

As they get closer to breaking up a human trafficking operation their relationship comes to a head and both of them have to face the dark aspects of their pasts.

I loved this book.  Jackie Ashenden has a way of grabbing my attention right from the beginning and then manages to keep me riveted.  That said, I have to mention that I had to use a bit of suspension of belief in the way that Zac wanted to handle Eva’s trust issues.  This, however, did not take away from my enjoyment of the book.  I still thought the two sizzled together.

I gave You Are Mine five very hot and steamy cappuccinos and I am happy to see that there will be a fourth book in this series.

Title: Make You Mine

Series: Nine Circles #2

Author: Jackie Ashenden

ISHO Add to Goodreads MakeYouMine ISHO Summary In the Nine Circles Club, one lucky man gets more than his share of money, power, and women–until he meets a beautiful opponent who plays in the name of love…in Make You Mine by Jackie Ashenden. He’s raising the stakes. Alex St. James was left with a choice. Pick up the dice and find where they lead, or walk away. Choosing to see where the snake-eyes go, Alex plays in a poker game run by the devil who haunts his past. He will risk everything to find answers—that is, until his alluring, enigmatic bodyguard, Katya, becomes someone he cannot risk losing… Katya is fiercely conflicted. Aching to break free from Alex to track down her former lover, Katya agrees to one last job—to protect her dangerously sexy boss as he gambles his future in exchange for clarity about his past. As the stakes are raised, Katya’s loyalty shifts from the man she loved to the man she swore to protect. But in order to get what she wants, Katya will have to go all in… isho-my-opinion2I read the first book in the series, Mine To Take, a few months ago and really liked it so when I saw the opportunity to get this from Netgalley, I was on that like white on rice.

The first book introduced Alex and left me wondering about him.  What was his story? What happened to him? What is his connection to all the mystery? I was happy to learn the answers to some of these questions. Alex has suffered through a very painful experience which has separated him from his family, by his own volition.  Now he wants revenge and he’s going to use his bodyguard to help him get it.

Also introduced very briefly in the first book was Alex’s bodyguard, Katya. I enjoyed Katya in this book.  She has suffered a great loss that has impacted her life, and is still trying to cope with it. Her past also compels her to take care of people she feels need help.

What starts off as a business arrangement becomes more to both of them, even though they are reluctant to admit it to each other or themselves.  They have crazy chemistry and before they know it, they’re acting on it. Although some questions were answered, I now have even more questions. Saying that there’s so much intrigue would be an understatement.

The members of the Nine Circles keep opening another can of worms and I can’t wait to find out what is actually happening.  They are slowly peeling away the layers.  I cannot wait for the third book in this series where I’m sure more will be revealed.

I gave Make You Mine five yummy cups of coffee with lots of intrigue and sexiness to spice them up. NEW Five coffee

ISHO Author BioJackie has been writing fiction since she was eleven years old. Mild mannered fantasy/SF/pseudo-literary writer by day, obsessive romance writer by night, she used to balance her writing with the more serious job of librarianship until a chance meeting with another romance writer prompted her to throw off the shackles of her day job and devote herself to the true love of her heart – writing romance. She particularly likes to write dark, emotional stories with alpha heroes who’ve just got the world to their liking only to have it blown wide apart by their kick-ass heroines. She lives in Auckland, New Zealand with her husband, the inimitable Dr Jax, two kids, two cats and some guppies (possibly dead guppies by the time you read this). When she’s not torturing alpha males and their stroppy heroines, she can be found drinking chocolate martinis, reading anything she can lay her hands on, posting random crap on her blog, or being forced to go mountain biking with her husband.

ISHO SummaryFirst in a brand new series featuring the members of the Nine Circles Club—friends bound together by power, secrets, need…and the love they will find and stop at nothing to keep.

Passion always comes at a price.

Gabriel Woolf is unstoppable. A ruthless businessman, he has perfected the art of revenge. Ever since his mother’s death, Gabriel has harbored only one wish: To take down the man who ruined their lives. But all bets are off when he meets his father’s step-daughter, Honor St. James. Beautiful and innocent, she is everything Gabriel never knew he wanted—and now there’s no turning back…

Is her desire worth the risk?

Honor wasn’t born yesterday. She knows that Gabriel is a wolf in sheep’s clothing, willing to cross any line to get what he wants…herself included. But Gabriel’s passion for Honor—in spite of her connection to the man he hates the most—cannot be denied…and the feeling is utterly mutual. Can Gabriel be trusted? The only thing she knows for sure is how he makes her feel. And she can’t keep herself from coming back to him, over and over again…

isho-my-opinion2

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.  I’m not gonna lie.  The cover totally got my full attention but then the summary got me.  I love the idea of reading a new series as it’s released.

Right from the beginning I wondered how Gabriel was going to “take down” the man who ruined his mother’s and his life without hurting Honor (the step-daughter of his nemesis and his friend’s sister).  He is consumed with vengeance and anger and I kept wondering how he’d ever be able get past it. As more information came to light I found myself more and more intrigued about what Gabriel and Honor would do.

I really liked Honor.  I found her to be incredibly strong in the face of all that was being revealed to her.   I found myself surprised by her reactions.  At the end of the day, she was strong enough for everyone.

As I mentioned before, by the end of the book I was totally intrigued about what was going on.  Things were not exactly as they seemed and I am anxiously waiting for book two, Make You MineI expect that some questions will be answered but that new ones will come about.  Exciting!

I gave Mine To Take four strong, bold cups of java.  It would’ve been five if I had more answers.  I’m hoping they will come in the next book.

NEW four coffee

She didn’t pause.  It wasn’t backing down or running away, no, it definitely wasn’t.  She only needed space, some time to get her armor back in place.

“Where the fuck are you going?”

She pulled open the door and went through it.

What I am currently reading:

The Darkest Touch by Gena Showalter

As I mentioned last week I’m so excited about this book.  The only problem I’m having is that my advance copy of this book is an actual “paper” book, which makes stealth reading difficult.  That said, I’m loving it. It’s just taking me a little longer to get through it.

What I recently read:

The Reed Brothers Series by Tammy Falkner

So this past weekend I got totally side-tracked by these books.  I read the five main books in the series and TOTALLY fell in love with The Reed Brothers.  There are quite a few novellas in this series (I’ve already read one) which I haven’t read yet.  I’m looking forward to the sixth book which will be released on December 9th.  These were quick reads for me.  They made me laugh and they made my eyes leak (as Carrie, my book bestie, would say). I highly recommend this series!!!

What I hope to read next:

Mine to Take by Jackie Ashenden

This is the first book in a new series.  Sounds very interesting.  I will post a review when I’m done reading it.
