ISHO SummaryFrom New York Times bestselling author Alice Clayton, the first in a brand-new romance series telling the humorously sexy tale of Roxie, a private chef who gets a taste of love—but is it to stay, or to go?

After losing almost all of her clients in one fell swoop following an accident involving whipped cream, private chef to Hollywood’s elite Roxie Callahan gets a call from her flighty mother, saying she’s needed home in upstate New York to run the family diner. Once she’s back in the Hudson Valley, local organic farmer Leo delivers Roxie a lovely bunch of walnuts, and soon sparks—and clothing—begin to fly. Leo believes that everything worth doing is worth doing slowly…and how! But will Roxie stay upstate, or will the lure of West Coast redemption tempt her back to Tinseltown?

isho-my-opinion2Once again, I’ve loved an Alice Clayton book!  As usual, I’ve giggled my ass off and totally fallen in love with her characters.

Roxie goes back to her home town to take over her mom’s diner since her mom will be on a reality show.  She agrees to do this under duress but she soon discovers that her home town isn’t so bad.  She becomes friends with the her old high school hottie, Chad, and she even learns to deal with all the town gossip.

Of course, making it all much more exciting is Leo, the local farmer.  Let me rephrase: the local SEXY and OH SO HOT farmer.  As she and Leo become closer she makes sure that he understands that it’s just a summer fling.  Or is it?  The longer she stays there the more she questions what’s back in California for her.  Their relationship is fun and easy until…there’s a big surprise.

As I said above, I really did enjoy this book and laughed and giggled through a lot of it.  I don’t think I’ll every be able to look at bee again without laughing.  Nuts got five steaming lattes from me, served with Roxie’s black walnut cake (made with Leo’s nuts of course) 😉

Priest cover

ISHO SummaryThere are many rules a priest can’t break.

A priest cannot marry. A priest cannot abandon his flock. A priest cannot forsake his God.

I’ve always been good at following rules.

Until she came.

My name is Tyler Anselm Bell. I’m twenty-nine years old. Six months ago, I broke my vow of celibacy on the altar of my own church, and God help me, I would do it again.

I am a priest and this is my confession.

***Priest is a standalone, full-length novel with an HEA. For mature audiences only.***

isho-my-opinion2When I heard about this book I knew that I HAD to read it!  I managed to obtain an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. Everything about this book compelled me to read it. I wasn’t disappointed.

I will just say right off that being Catholic and believing that priests should marry is one of the reasons I wanted to read this book.  Secondly, the excerpts that I saw were hot, hot, hot!

I was hooked on Tyler Bell right from the beginning.  I got a big kick out of him calling the confessional the “Ancient Booth of Death”. [As I was snickering away about this I mentioned it to my second born, who was in the room, she did not see the humour in this *sigh*].  The book is told from Tyler’s point of view, which is always a win for me.  From the moment he hears Poppy’s voice in the confessional he struggles with his vow of celibacy, his need to be a priest, his need to serve God and his need for Poppy.

Throughout the book, no one is as hard on Tyler as he is himself.

And the worst thing was that I knew He wasn’t angry with me.  He’d forgiven me before it had even happened, and I didn’t deserve it.  I deserved to be punished, a hail of fire from above, bitter waters, an IRS audit, something, anything dammit, because I was a miserable loathsome, lustful man who’d taken advantage of an emotionally vulnerable woman.

As I read along I felt a bit of desperation for both of them.  I felt that no matter what the outcome was, one or both of them would be unhappy.  It was almost as if there would be a no win situation. If Tyler remained a priest, he would not be able to be with the woman he loved.  If Tyler left the priesthood, he would miss his vocation and his need to serve God.  As for Poppy, if Tyler left she would have to live with knowing that she came between a man and his duty to God.

I had knots in my stomach as I read. I really did! I couldn’t see how it would be ok in the end.  There were a few twists in this book that surprised me.  Don’t worry, I won’t spoil any of it for you.  You’ll just have to read for yourself and trust that Sierra Simone [and God 😉] would find a way.

I really enjoyed this book and didn’t have to think twice about giving it five cups of hot and fulfilling coffee.

She tasted a little bit of heaven with him, and now they’ve gone through hell and back, but can their relationship take anymore?

Valerie Quinn is a naïve college freshman when she meets on-the-rise rock star Ethan Richards. He’s an idealistic, handsome, reckless young man, but he’s captured her heart. She doesn’t give up on him and eventually his walls crumble down. By the time Valerie has given herself to him completely, she discovers he’s damaged and may be beyond help. Can she save Ethan and their relationship before he implodes, or will he self-destruct and take her with him?

ISHO Author Bio

Jade C. Jamison was born and raised in Colorado, moved from one city/town to the next, and she’s decided she likes it so much she wants to stay…although travel is not out of the question. She lives in a big town in Colorado (not unlike the fictional Winchester she writes so much about) with her husband and four children. She is working on becoming a crazy cat lady. Okay, so maybe not.

Still want more? Jade has a bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Theater, a master’s degree in English, and a master of fine arts in Creative Writing. Obviously, she loves school and the student loan folks love her. She works in human services by day, teaches English and creative writing at night, and—in between playing soccer mom and community leader—writes like a fiend. Someday soon, she’ll narrow it down to just writing, but let’s get all those kids off to college first.
