ISHO SummaryMillie Cross knows what it’s like to burn for someone. She was young and wild and he was fierce and even wilder-a Chaos biker who made her heart pound. They fell in love at first sight and life was good, until she learned she couldn’t be the woman he needed and made it so he had no choice but to walk away. Twenty years later, Millie’s chance run-in with her old flame sparks a desire she just can’t ignore. And this time, she won’t let him ride off . . .

Bad boy Logan “High” Judd has seen his share of troubles with the law. Yet it was a beautiful woman who broke him. After ending a loveless marriage, High is shocked when his true love walks back into his life. Millie is still gorgeous, but she’s just a ghost of her former self. High’s intrigued at the change, but her betrayal cut him deep-and he doesn’t want to get burned again. As High sinks into meting out vengeance for Millie’s betrayal, he’ll break all over again when he realizes just how Millie walked through fire for her man .

isho-my-opinion2We all have our ALL-TIME FAVOURITE author.  You know, the one that we know will always come through with a great book.  The one that will get you out of a reading funk.  The one that has created the best book boyfriend EVER *cough* Tack! *cough*. The one whose books you don’t mind rereading (or in my case, listening to) over and over again.  Kristen Ashley is this for me.  So when I sent in my request to NetGalley for this book, I held my breath until I got the reply email. Then, a happy dance may or may not have occurred.

Twenty years have passed.  TWENTY YEARS since Millie has seen Logan/High.  All of a sudden she sees him at a restaurant and it all comes crashing back.  Twenty years ago she had the best three years of her life with High by her side.  Then she let him go.  Never told him why but did it for him. Now she wants to tell him why she did it.

Unfortunately, High was broken by Millie all those years ago and he’s not in a place where he wants to hear what she has to say.  He’s in the mood for vengeance.  And oh boy, is he mean.  I’m not gonna lie.  I cried.  Yup my heart broke for Millie.  That’s not to say that I didn’t feel for High.  All he knows is that the woman that he loved for three years just pushed him away.

As they get their second chance to be together I loved seeing all the usual Chaos cast of characters.  Just for the record, in case I haven’t mentioned it before, I love how Kristen Ashley somehow brings back characters that I know and love, even if they’re just passing through.

I really did love High and Millie together.  Even in the flashbacks we see how they are so perfect for each other.  Although they’ve been apart for so long and even though it was rough getting back to being them, I’ll say it again, they are perfect together!!!

I gave Walk Through Fire five great big, steamy, hot, delicious cups of coffee!  Now I will sit back and sip them while I [im]patiently wait for the next Chaos book.

ISHO SummaryThe ride of her life . . .
Once upon a time, Carissa Teodoro believed in happy endings. Money, marriage, motherhood: everything came easy—until she woke up to the ugly truth about her Prince Charming. Now a struggling, single mom and stranded by a flat tire, Carissa’s pondering her mistakes when a vaguely familiar knight rides to her rescue on a ton of horsepower.

Climb on and hold tight . . .
In high school, Carson Steele was a bad boy loner who put Carissa on a pedestal where she stayed far beyond his reach. Today, he’s the hard-bodied biker known only as Joker, and from the way Carissa’s acting, it’s clear she’s falling fast. While catching her is irresistible, knowing what to do with her is a different story. A good girl like Carissa is the least likely fit with the Chaos Motorcycle Club. Too bad holding back is so damned hard. Now, as Joker’s secrets are revealed and an outside threat endangers the club, Joker must decide whether to ride steady with Carissa—or ride away forever . . .

isho-my-opinion2First I need to mention that my book bestie and I were totally squeeeeeing (that’s a word, right?) at getting this ARC from Netgalley.  Kristen Ashley, in my eyes, can do no wrong.  So yes, you’re probably right, this will not really be an objective review.  This is the woman who created my forever book boyfriend, Kane “Tack” Allen and seeing as this series is about HIS motorcycle club I knew I’d see him again in this book and that alone gives this book five of the yummiest most delicious coffees around.

Now that I’ve spewed forth all that is my love for Kristen Ashley and Tack, I will say that I absolutely loved Joker and Carissa.  As is KA’s style, she completely hooks you into these characters and their lives.

Joker endured plenty of abuse as a kid and as soon as he was able to he took off leaving the emotional and physical abuse behind him.  Abandoned by his mother and abused by his father, he still had people who cared for him.  When he returns, he joins Chaos. He makes a name for himself with Ride (Chaos’ car building/designing business) and becomes an integral member of the club.  Eventually he reconnects with those people that cared for him before he left.

Carissa was a popular girl in school but even so never had a mean thing to say about anyone.  Having suffered through some family tragedies she looks forward to being a wife and a mom.  After marrying her high school boyfriend she finds herself in a failed marriage and being a single mom to her son.

One day after her car breaks down, she’s on the side of the road needing some assistance and Joker comes to her rescue.  Joker immediately recognizes the girl he crushed on in high school but Carissa doesn’t recognize him at all.  From there their relationship grows.  Joker is wonderful to her and her son.  Of course, there’s nothing like a woman moving on with another man to make her ex suddenly want her back.  Jerk!!!

As usual, Kristen Ashley brings back some of the characters from other books.  I love how she gives us glimpses of all of our old favourites *cough* Tack *cough*. It’s nice to touch base with them again.

I loved Joker and Carissa (I knew I would!) and give this book five delicious, sweet and satisfying lattes.  As always, I look forward to the next book in the series.

To play along, just answer the following three (3) questions…

• What are you currently reading? • What did you recently finish reading? • What do you think you’ll read next?

Here’s where I’m at:

What I am currently reading:

Vicious Cycle by Katie Ashley

You know me and biker books. I love them!  Although I have quite a few Katie Ashley books on my to read list, this is the first book by her that I am reading.  I just started yesterday.  So far so good.

Flirting With Fire by Kate Meader

I became aware of this book because and author I’ve enjoyed was reading it.  Let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a sexy fire fighter?  It’s been a long time since I’ve read a fire fighter book.  I am enjoying this one so far.

What I recently read:

Zack by Sawyer Bennett

I read this and loved it so much.  I’ve enjoyed the whole Cold Fury Hockey series.  Sawyer Bennett did not disappoint.  I’ll be posting my review on June 11th.

What I plan to read next:

Ride Steady by Kristen Ashley

The sound you heard earlier today, and couldn’t place, was me squeeeeeing because NetGalley finally sent me this ARC.  As I’ve mentioned before, I love biker books (see above). But I especially love Kristen Ashley’s Chaos MC. Mostly because Chaos MC President Kane “Tack” Allen is my FOREVER BOOK BOYFRIEND!

Now go ahead and tell me what your W…W…W… are.

Vicious Cycle

My fists clenched at my sides, and it took everything within me not to pick up the statue of Jesus on the coffee table and hurl it at the wall.  Trying to keep a lid on my emotions, I breathed in and out several times.  No matter how pissed I was, I would not disrespect my mother in her home by flying off the handle.
